I have four payday loans in Tennessee, all storefront.

They are for:
$200
$200
$200
$250
all with $30 fees.

I can't seem to get them caught up no matter what I do. I just seem to get deeper. What are ways to help with these, since they are store front? I can't just close my bank account, since I wrote them checks, right? Can't they have me arrested for a bad check at that point?

I know how you feel. I'm in TN and have a couple of storefronts loans I can't seem to shake as well. I had them almost paid off and then then maxed them back out again to pay the internet pdls. DUH! LOL

If they are members of the CFSA you can request an EPP before you default. The big question is could you afford an EPP? That would take the total and divide it into 4 equal payments. The problem with that is by the time most people seek help they are having a hard time making even the $30 interest payments.

Is it possible you can even start with one and pay it down like $25 each time until its paid off and then move on to the next one?

I had a really great friend offer to loan me 1,000 to pay these off a couple days ago. I went into two stores and paid off, and the other 2 I missed the deadline---

When I did them, they told me I had to be in by noon the day it was due. If I couldnt, please call them. Otherwise, the check would be picked up by their depositing team and there was nothing they could do about it. Well, I missed the noon deadline, so I thought "No problem, I will make sure that money is in the bank!"

Yesterday, one of the places called me and was downright hateful to me and went OFF about how I was wrong, and that she NEVER said that, and all she asked was that I call by noon, not that anything would be deposited. (She DID say it, I remember thinking these 2 places are different than any other ones I've used!) She got nasty and said "The check hasnt been deposited! We cant DEPOSIT your check! I suggest you bring the cash in immediately."

I took the cash in, but I'm just confused- why are we writing the checks if they say they can't cash or deposit them? Has anyone else had that? This was with the $250 one above--- Advance America in TN.
