Garnishment of bank account

I had a credit card company that got a garnishment in november to take my state tax refunds. This week end they took all the money out of my bank account. I called the bank, but they claim that it is legit, they can get a court order to take your bank account and they don't have to notify you about it until it is already gone. This does not seem legit to me. I am waiting for the papers to come so I can see what they look like. Has anyone else had this happen to them. they left me with nothing and I have no money for gas to get to work.

Your creditor had a garnishment order or freeze on your bank account, not your taxes. Only federal and state debts can seize your tax returns and they do it at the source, not your bank account. However, once that money hits your account, it is fair game.
