My wife and I had gotten a BestBuy credit card with 0% interest for 18 months. We didnt get it paid off in time so the interest has piled up on us now and the monthly minimum payment is $100 which is interest alone. My question is, does HSBC turn accounts over to collections? Also, if this happens, will the interest stop once the collection agency has it?

The reason Im asking is because Ive had doctor bills in the past that were turned over to collections and never filed against my credit as long as I paid on time with the agency. By doing this with HSBC, Im hoping all of our payments will go to the principle and not the interest allowing us to finally pay it off.

Does anyone know if HSBC and BB accounts work this way?

Well, thanks for the reply but that SUCKS! lol

I was hoping that if it was turned over to a collection agency the interest would stop in hopes of being able to pay it off. They sure make it nearly impossible to pay off these high rate cards.

Any suggestions for me? The cc balance is around $4300 and I would love to be able to get this paid down with a lower rate if possible.

The same thing happened to me. I called them right after the interest charges hit and they said they would only charge me 50% of the interest if I paid the bill in full. I could not do that so I was told there was nothing they could do.

So I filed a complaint with the BBB. HSBC refunded me $1000 as a show of "good faith." It helped that I always paid my bill on time, so they cut me a break. Of course, only after I complained. Don't be afraid to use the BBB to your advantage. I have gotten refunds on other products using the BBB. If your account was in good standing before they added the interest, then you may have a shot.

Anyone familiar with Oak Grove Law Group? I was contacted via email by one of their financial coaches through here Im assuming. They are saying they can help me by contacting my creditors and working something out with them to help with my payments. Anyone have any experience with them and is it worth it?
