I owe $674 to The Cash Store and $454 to Advance America. I cannot pay. Ive been so restless thinking they will call my work or garnish my wages. I live in Michigan what can I do?

They will probably not cash your check the day your payment is due. Call your bank and stop payments on the checks you wrote to them. I was in the same situation and i dont know if its an option for you, but i changed my direct deposit into my savings instead of my checking after Advance america cashed my check on my payday after 4 weeks of nonpayment and noncommunication. but please be careful and TALK TO YOUR BANK MANAGER!!!! I stopped payment on the check i wrote to advance america and they tried to send it to the bank twice, then they ran it electronically 3 different times with lesser amounts that added up to the amount of the check. (my bank will only block a check or ach if you give them the exact amount of the transaction) Maybe when they cant collect on your check they will offer you an extended payment plan. I refused to answer the phone so they didnt get around to offering me one, all i got were threatening letters. but maybe if you answer and talk to them, they will work with you. it seems to me that even though its a national company, each store tends to run things a little different. if, however, you dont want them to call your work, send them a cease and desist letter telling them that they are not allowed to call your employer or any references you provided. (send it certified so you have proof and can file a complaint against them if they do it anyway) do you have any sort of plans to pay them back? could you make payments if they offered? dont wanna be nosy but i just want to be sure you have a plan in place so you will have a lighter heart. I had a total of 6 pdl and two of them ended up cashing my checks the sneaky way descibed above, then i filed bk because i have a total of about 40000 in debt and even though i just began the whole process, i sleep so much better knowing what my plan is. good luck and keep us updated! :)
