I started taking care of my PDL's through this wonderful site and the State of Maryland in late 2007. Thankfully I'm in the clear now, except for the occasional recorded telephone call from United Cash Loans. As I began this process over a year and a half ago, I'm just curious, what's the longest period of time anyones' had where the PDL's try to contact you?

PDLOwner, I had a $500 loan with them last year, paid the principal off but they do not consider it settled. I refuse to give them anymore, I have overpaid past loans by literally over a thousand dollars and they are not legal in my state. Once in awhile, they do still call and ask for me to give them another $150.00.

How did they get you new cell number and bank account? In my experience, you can thank your family and friends for giving it out. The bank account, the only way that they could get that is for you to supply it to them or one of thier sister companies. Contray to what most say here, the companies do not sell or trade the information. Why would they hurt thier chances of collecting by giving the new account info to another company that you owe money to?

I do not know how they got my new banking information, I know they have done it others here, as well. My guess is they saw through chex systems that I opened a new account (I saw that they check on my chex systems report regularly), and since they have all of my personal information, I blame the bank for that one. I never applied for a loan since than.
I really doubt my friends and family gave out my info.. trust me on that one. :) Either way, I simply hang up on them or if I see them calling, I do not pick up.
I do not owe money to any companies and I really do not have the time for their games.

You can get anyone's cell phone number on the internet. All you have to do is pay a small fee. Now, I'm worried about them getting my new checking account info. and if they don't have authorization from you, how can they withdraw from the new account? Now, I'm scared...... they could take the money I will have in my account to settle with I.R.S.

panddmccarthy, there is no reason to worry. it is always possible and that is why i watch my bank account like a hawk but it is really not too common. My idenity was stolen (which I do blame myself for putting my personal info out on the web), but because of this I have more trouble dealing with these companies than most people would. my guess is that my bank actually let them because they had my social security number, job info, everything.
I agree, though - they can get any information that they want. i am 100% sure my friends and family did not sell me out.

What I am saying is that you are giving the IPDL way too much credit!! They do not have a magic system that will provide them with tis information, it must be given too them.

Your cell number can only be gained by you giving it to them (or another PDL company or lead generator) or your family/friends. I know you say that the family/friends would never give it out, but it happens everyday followed by the line "do not tell them where you got this!".

Again, as for your bank account, it must have been supplied by you somehow. The bank will NOT give this information out. Think about it for a minute, the IPDL's do everything electronicly so they will ge a "yes or no" answer. There is not a cross reference process that will kickback your new account. There are privacy regulations that have been in place for about 10 years for the banks and repercussions for violating can be pretty severe and costly.

Now, nothing is ever 100%, but due to the number of people reporting it here would lead me to believe that many of them are not being honest with themselves. I cannot speak about your case specifically, but the overall percentages here don't add up.

PDLOwner, I know my family and friends did not sell me out because I never gave correct phone numbers for my references. I did not want to mention that because I am sure I will be judged but at the time, I was scared they would call them before I was given the money and I did not want anyone to know I was applying for payday loans.
I do not use a home telephone number so I am pretty sure everyone has my cell number.
I can assure you I never, ever gave anyone on the internet my new banking information.
I really do not know how it was done but at this point, it is not even something I think about. It is in the past.. you can believe me or not, it is your choice but I know what I have been through.

I'm not attacking you, just sharing my experiences. As for the searches that were discussed, they are reverse searches and locators of individuals that have publicly listed thier cell numbers.

You may be one of the exceptions, but it really does not matter because it does not change your situation.

i know, i am sorry I have gotten defensive :) it has been a long week for me..
I actually do not even mind their calls, as I simply avoid them. I find that arguing with them only makes them call more often. this only applies to illegal payday loans though. for the valid debts i used to have (credit cards and what not) i have found that keep in constant contact is what saved me from being sued.

bea2ls, UCL is the same; I've used this website and have also been dealing extensively w/ my State financial regulatory agency and the State has assured me that I am in the right and UCL is not. UCL insists they are owed more $$$, and there the matter stands. As my original post stated, this has been over a year since I started taking my PDLs in hand and the only one who's still calling is UCL, and I was wondering about other peoples' experiences as to how long THEY received calls. Didn't mean to open up a big can of worms, was just curious.
