MCM is scamming me

I spoke with a collection agent over an old bill to verizon which we agreed to a reduced amount of $136.00. i gave her my credit card #, and she stated "lets get this taken care of and you won't hear from me again". A few days later I recieved a bill showing my payment with an amount owing stating, "This is to confirm our phone conversation and we will expect you to keep our agreement". Your next payment is due on......This is fraud and extortion as far as I'm concerned. how can they make an agreement with you by phone and then act as though it was only for a partial payment. Does this sound legal?

That should be totally illegal. We all know they won't send a settlement agreement before recieving a payment amount. What's to stop them from taking any amount of money they see fit after you authorize payment with a credit card? They got a freebie this time cause they won't be recieving another dime.
