Remove LVNV tradeline from credit report?
Date: Thu, 08/06/2009 - 14:19
I am willing and prepared to settle the account in one payment (immediately) dependent only on LVNV's written verification that they will remove the tradeline from all three bureaus within 30 days of receipt of payment.
However, I'm getting the run around.
The CA collecting on behalf of LVNV insists LVNV handles all credit bureau reporting so I must talk to them. LVNV states they have a strict policy against removing tradelines even after an account is paid satisfactorily.
Has anyone had success with LVNV in this sort of situation? I'm having a tough time finding success stories on the internet, and it's quite discouraging. Help!
Thank you!
PS: I have considered disputing the entry directly with the credit bureaus, but I want to try to resolve it this way first. If they're unwilling to agree to my terms, I'm determined to not give them a single penny until the day I die. Haha.

Then they will likely take you to court, get a judgement, and seek legal remedies to enforce that judgement. Haha.
There aren't success stories because they will likely not do it. SOME original creditors will agree to a pay-for-delete, but they don't have to.

Who is reporting the account to the credit bureau? If now you are dealing with another collection agency and not with LVNV, then the new CA is responsible for reporting the same to the credit bureaus.
IMO you may settle the debt first and then obtain the 'paid in full' statement from the collection agency. If they don't update the status of the account with the CRAs and it continues appearing on your report; dispute it with the CRAs as well as with the collection agency with a copy of the statement. They wouldn't be able to validate the account and eventually will update the information.
I doubt if the account would get deleted from the report but never the less it'd appear as paid.
Thanks for the responses!
ChrysHenderson,
I know they _could_, but considering the amount of time that has passed and the minimal amount of money they want, I really don't see that happening. :)
I know they don't HAVE to delete it... I was asking if anyone has had success with LVNV deleting theirs. I'm seeking advice for my negotiations with them.
If only all would delete them! Imagine how much more money they would make from people like me.

SC,
LVNV is reporting to the bureaus. The other CA is collecting on their behalf (LVNV purchased the debt from the original creditor). I've never had such a rough settlement negotiation as this one has been. LVNV seems completely crappy to work with. Bleh.

Probably the best you can hope for is to get the tradeline updated to paid. If you can get paid in full, that would be something. If you settle, they may sell the balance to another collector if you do not get a paid in full letter from them.

Actually, the banks and finance companies like the lower scores because it gives them an excuse to charge you more interest. Which will increase the chance of default. Which will increase the customer base for the collectors. So they are not really motivated to become known for removing bad tradelines....
Yes they can be deleted if you have patience
believe it or not I have been able to delete these suckers of my report. i had 2 LVNV accounts on my credit report after a year and half of constant disputes one of them is gone. I have been using lexington law for the past yr and half. kinda okay service from them.

Are they reporting this as a revolving account, or is it being reported as a collection account on your CR?
You can win against LVNV
I have to success stories about LVNV. For those who think there are no success stories you are flat out wrong. The fight with them was bloody but I won. It took 2 years but I prevailed. To tell you the truth I got discouraged during the fight and decided to give it one last shot. After not getting any response from them for 2 years through the mail I digged for thier email address and sent an email instead to AskCompliance@resurgent.com. Got a response via mail in 2 weeks with some BS explanation from them which I didn't buy. I went ahead a disputed with the all 3 CRA's and voila it was gone.
Guys you've got to take the fight back to these suckers. They are they are the best of the meanest and baddest out there so be prepared. You can win.
i think use credit mri
my friend used creditmri.com no upfront fees and he got it deleted try that i think that will work.
