Credit card judgement
Date: Thu, 08/13/2009 - 12:26
I was behind on payments on a credit card from Providian, and found out that it had been sent to a collection company called CACH, LLC. In August of 2008, a civil claim judgement was filed against me for $2,395. This shows up on my credit report as a public item.
I haven't received any information from anyone on how to pay this or whether payment plans are available. I would like to pay it off and get it off of my credit report, but I don't know how or who to contact. Any suggestions?

Had you received summon to appear before the court before the judgement was given? Or, was it a default judgement?
Paying the judgement wouldn't remove it from the report. It'd stay their for as long as seven years like any other negative entries. Now, if you don't satisfy the judgement within this period, it can get renewed and stay on records for longer time.

You need to review all letters and documents received from providian and collection agency. See if they notified you of a summons. Usually if the collection agency could not collect they return it back to the OC for civil action. They had to have notified you about this
If they have gotten the judgement then they CC company can levy your bank accounts for the full balance owed. I would call them immediately and see what happened. If there never was any notification of a summons I would file a claim to vacate the judgement immediately.
