I am not sure if filing chapter 7 will do anything about the SSI overpayment. I think that one would survive a discharge. It would eliminate the credit card debt. If you get a judgement for the cc debt, the collector would be able to garnish your wages, unless it is less than $154 a week. They can take 10% of your gross, or 25% of your disposable income, whichever is less. As far as the SSI, you will probably hve to accept that the government is going to take your tax refunds until it is paid. The government is going to make sure that they get their money.

some judgments wont be discharged through bk. since we are talking about the federal government i wouldnt expect it to be discharged. anything government or state related cant be included in the bk. the bk will definetly stop the credit card company though.
