Can I get forbearance on a defaulted student loan?

Actually.....no, you can't on a DEFAULTED one. You need to bring your loan 'current', and then it's possible. You may want to try and call/Google the Department of Education and see if you can get your loan out of default. I brought mine out of default a few years ago. the way the economy is today, I don't honestly know who you can go through now, if, at all.

If you live in Pennsylvania, OP, I can tell you the Lender I went through to getmy student loan out of 'default'. I'm not sure if they CAN help. But, it's worth a try...or maybe they can steer you in the right direction.
