I have a lot of credit card debt. I do not want debt creditors to basically rule your life and take things away , also I do not want creditors calling and nagging about payments, is there a better service and not so degrading and bothersome to help people get out of debt before 65 years old

are there any reliable companies in Pa that can help with credit card debt but I do not want to not pay my creditors , I would like a person who is licensed to discuss my options regarding the debt we are in

You can consult with an attorney, but it will cost you much more then it would if you consult with a debt settlement company that has attorneys who oversee your case. The only way to not pay any of your debts is with bankruptcy chapter 7. It is much harder now to qualify for that. With debt settlement your debts will be reduced by between 60% and 40%. The program takes between 12 and 40 months and once your debts are settled your credit will begin to improve. With bankruptcy, it will be on your credit report for 10 years.

A consultation with an attorney is free but if you decide to hire an attorney to settle your debts it will cost you more than if you enroll with a debt settlement company who has lawyers who oversee your case. On the other hand, if bankruptcy is your best option, then you will need an attorney who specializes in bankruptcy. Your chances of being sued when you have a lawyer based debt settlement company is less then with a non lawyer based company.

Guest with the post at 1:32 pm,

Where do you get your information on higher risk, lower risk of suit?
Please back that up with actual analytics.
It may be tough to do as your statement:
"Your chances of being sued when you have a lawyer based debt settlement company is less then with a non lawyer based company."
Is utter nonsense.

What you said may sound reasonable to an unsuspecting consumer, it is still nonsense.

I will gladly eat half my keyboard if you can provide an independent source of analytics to back up your claim.

Mileage may vary

to the origional post, sadly getting out of debt no matter what is grueling and degrading period no matter how you go about it. but what needs to be done still needs to be done so its better to do it now than later then you can just get on with your life.

Hope everything is working out for you no matter how you handled it!

I am not an expert when it comes to BK, but I have heard that it can sometimes be a much better option for someone nearing or in retirement...which makes sense since retirement accounts are safe as is SS. Again, like the other folks have been saying consulting with a regarded BK attorney is a good starting point.
