If a debt collector sends you a letter saying you have 30 days to respond and if you don't the debt is considered valid. If i did not respond in 30 days and then send them a Debt Validation letter, does this mean if they can't prove it's mine that they can't continue collection activities? Or because i didn't respond in 30 days is the debt legally valid...


you always have a right to dispute,but if done out of the 30 day window.they don't have to cease collections.within the 30 days.they do.

I had to close my joint checking account in 2008, due to a seperation with my husband. I had 8 payday loans. They have turned thede over to coolection companies and they said they are going to file criminal charges against me and they are going to sue me also. I have tried to work out a pyamnet plan with them but they want me to pay more and I cant afford that.
