I have recently signed with a debt mgmt firm to negotiate settlements for 10 accounts I have, but one of the creditors has filed a suit against me. The negotiator is telling me they handle this sort of thing all the time and I should not worry about it, that it should not go to the point of becomming a judgement.

Anyone have stories to share about what happened to them in a similar situation? Anyone who did actually end up having a judgement entered against them despite the negotiators attempts?

Not the question I asked guest, debt management companies are supposed to NOT send anything to creditors until a settlement has been reached, that's the way the programs work.

What I'm asking is, after a suit has already been field, what are some other folks' experiences with having a debt mgmt firm negotiate a settlement that keeps you from having a judgement entered against you. Are they largely successful in doing this, or does someone have a story where this was attempted and failed?
