If the OP has received a legitmate summons for court, the payment plan can be worked out with the judge. At this point, if the case has been filed, they must stay in contact with the courts to aviod a default judgement. If the Plaintiff does get the default, they can then start attaching bank accounts, investments and submitting garnishments.
