I have about 20k on a business card with Capital One. 2 mo. ago they doubled the interest rate...not due to late payments. They informed me that a (one) letter was sent out that notified of the rate increase and if you did not accept it they would freeze your current rate and cancel the card. I let them know I did not receive the letter and would like to cancel and keep my old interest rate...they refused. I have not paid it since. I read the post (most current I found 3/08) on the debt settlement for this company and they seem to sue right away. Has anyone had any more recent experience with this scamming company?
Thanks for your help.

Well Susan, I think you can still take inspiration from the old thread since the process of dealing with creditors hasn't changed much since 2008. :)

Capital One is known to be a stubborn one but the key is to be persistent with your efforts to settle. You better let them know that you're willing to pay what you owe but at your convenience. If they know that you can't actually pay the amount they are looking for they mightn't waste time in going to court.

Hope someone with more recent experience would drop in soon. Just hang tight.
