I received a call, from a representative, claiming to be from J.P. Enterprises. She said I owed on an outstanding loan. However...she said the loan was "processed" in 2006.Huh??? I asked her, if the defaulted loan is THAT old, then why are they contacted me know? According to her, the CA has been sending letters out since 2007. Gee....that's funny,..because I don't even know who these people are (at least I THINK I have the right name for the CA). Any advice?

I'd assume it is a scam or a phishing expedition and I would tell them in strong language never to contact you again and that you are filing an attempted fraud complaint with the FCC.

They apparently are a PDL company who may have stolen your info from a previous PDL, if you had one:

J P Enterprises Inc
755 E Greg St Ste 17
Sparks, NV 89431
Phone : (775) 359-8909

(found in: "http://nv.asklocalpages.com/J-1.php")

-OR possibly:

Jp Enterprises
(702) 255-5620
223 N Pecos Rd
Henderson, NV

(found in a UK site: "http://articles-origin.directorym.com/Unsecured_Personal_Loan_Nevada-r961077-Nevada.html" and "http://www.findit-loans.com/item/JP%20Enterprises.aspx")

I appriciate the reply. However.....the number they called with was a 404 (area code) number. I din't recognize the number, but, I answered the phone anyway. If they WERE collecting for a PDL, why would they wait so long to contact me? It DOES sound like a bit of a scam, to me, too.

Those were the only 2 listings for that company I could find.

BUT, 404 area code is in Georgia. There *is* a JP Enterprises there ...
... but they are not a collection agency!!

It virtually screams "scam" to me. I'd file a complaint with the FTC and the FCC.

Well........if they are NOT a CA, I wonder who they REALLY are. Yeah..filing a complaint seems like a good idea. Thanks.

...ALSO, (forgot to add this..) this JP Enterprises claims this account is on my credit. I haven't seen my CR in a few months. I only received Tranunion. I din't see it on THAT one, anyway. So..if it's on the others, what should I do? I DO know the SOL, in the state of PA, is 4 years.

This is Chrys, the board says I'm logged in but apparently I'm not... That's a question with a tough solution, the CRAs apparently have a history of screwing people with false data and refusing to correct it (people hardly ever sue FDCPA violating collectors as it is, and almost no one sues the CRAs for their collusion). Hopefully it won't show up, we'll take it one step at a time.
