Hey Starlitsky,
Can you pull up a bank statement to check where the money is going? That is the best way to make things sure.

Redline Recovery are a bunch of scammers hiding behind a legitimate looking name and website - check out their track record by googling them. The so-called representative who called me was rude beyond belief and yelled at me, called me a liar, etc. The creepy thing is that they had my contact information and knew about a past due balance that i had just paid off. When I sent them information proving the payment, they kept calling me, harassing me, and said I never sent payment information. I called American Express and they said that Redline Recovery was never retained, that my account never went to collections because it was only 2 weeks late and to report Redline Recovery to the local police.
Really Now. Don't over do it.

American Express is a client of the company. American Express would not suggest you contact the local police except if you felt threatened. American Express holds a tight reign over all their outside agencies and would not say what you claim. They do not do business with illegitimate agencies. They do require the utmost care in the collection of the accounts. The collection agency may not have received your fax. That is why the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires you send the information in writing with signed delivery confirmation. The company has your information because it was reported as a legitimate debt to be collected, if it is paid provide the information and it will be closed. Don't be misslead by what you read online. The company provides a legitimate business service and requires the employees to adhere to federal, state, company and client expectations. If the individual treated you the way you claim, he will not be employed long with Redline Recovery or any other agency in the industry. It is not acceptable practice.

In regard to the August Quote by Starlitsky09: Collection Agencies are the only business entity legally allowed by federal law to solicit and process postdated checks, except in Ma as their state law disallows the solicitation, but not the acceptance. Collection agencies do not make the type of mistake you describe. they do not have that type of access to your information. Your last post was August insinuating the collection agency had something to do with the problem, but you have not indicated you found the solution elsewhere, which is certainly likely. It is posts like this that prompt consumers to assume the worst about the collection process. If the collection agency makes a mistake, they are very quick to fix and pay any associated fees; as such they strive not to make mistakes.

well.....i'm guessing publicservicemessage must be affiliated with them somehow. THe rest of get rude and harrassing calls. Hey, I'm not even the person they are looking for and they are still rude and not even as much as "sorry for any inconvenience we have caused you" instead I get grilled on whether I was really sure that I didn't know anyone by the name of the person they were looking for.

I have worked in the Credit and Collections Industry for years. It does not matter which company I work for, the facts are the facts. Contact the company and have your number removed if wrong, make arrangements if you owe the debt or file a complaint with a regulatory agency if you are harassed. It's about doing the right thing and complaining online is not the solution. People owe the bills the collection agencies are trying to collect, no they do not deserve to be abused, but they do need to pay their bills or the rest of us will pay and pay and pay, or our economy will eventually crumble with debt. Collection agencies are a necessary evil, just like lawyers and credit cards.

i have stated this a million times. NEVER EVER GIVE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER TO ANYONE. Learn from my mistake. before i signed up with a settlement co i tried to settle the first on my own on a debt at 1,300 i talked the lender on wed. told them they could take the money out on the following tuesday. Well needless to say they took it out thursday overdrafting me. and if that is not bad enough they took it out again on tuesday overdrafting me again and bouncing all my checks that were out there and leaving me pennyless for almost 2 months till they returned it.
Its very depressing to have to depend on your parents for diapers and food till it all got straightened out. believe me i will never eat oodles of noodles ever again. dont ever do that.

I'm inclined to believe you, your poor spelling and grammar says it all.

well i have been a debt collector with nationwide credit.....we service genuine amex cards that have been cancelled......what i dont understand is why do you all shy away from paying.....if you cant pay talk.....that is the best way of tackling calls.....hanging up or not picking up isnt the solution...if you think you are smart you really arent....whenever you move or change a num....we have that info....we also have your check in a/c info...but we are legit so we never misuse it....we only take your authorisation....that is why at the beginning of every call you here...this call may be monitored and recorded for quality assurance....and remember that collections is a voluntary level of collections....after this phase is over its too late....then nobody will ask you to pay they will take it...you know i'm talking about the irs..........so please for your own good.....
tips to improve your situation
1)talk to the collector....if he's rude.//tell him upfront to stop harassing or ask to speak with a supervisor or manager....they cant say no.....
2)if you cant pay...say so./...tell them when you will have some money or give them a date to call back....this way you reduce the frequency...but its not permanent...dont break your promises/////we hate that the most.......when you say you will pay do so....remember its all on your credit report....
3)if you cant pau entire amt...say so....we can work out something....say that you can pay $X every mnth and do so.....if you have a lil extra...settle....but this dsnt improve your fico score but is better than not paying for sure.....always....ask for your payment letter....ask them to email...or fax it ...or send it in mail........
4)make at least$25 or $50..every month...saves you from the irs and the calls./////
5)the more you pay the faster the file closes.....so you're fico comes back....
6)THE MOST IMPORTANT//////get off your fat ass....and get a job.....just because there isnt the job of your choice doesnt mean that you sit at home....get something to do....it will atleast keep your pockets warm.....remember as the going gets tough the tough gets going

You are still lying
What a crock
They are not necessary. Most of the debt has already been written of by banks that qualify the credit they lend. Most collection companies are loan sharks who buy debts for .05 cents and scare you into paying them for .50 cents
Banks lend money they don't have through fractional lending and are afforded relief through write-offs.
