Delinquent credit when under 18?

My son's step mother took him to the doctor when he was 17 and failed to pay that bill. Now it is showing up on his credit report. The collection agency will give him no information because the debt is in her name. How can this be?

I would suggest DVing the debt as the step son did not sign for responsiblity for the debt. Then they need to dispute it with the CRA's.
