They answer as Barr Group and told me someone was coming to my work to serve me with papers in reference to judgement against me fro Global payday loan. They said they wanted to settle out of court. And before they called, someone from S & O security called me at work and told me they needed to meet with me to serve me with documents for court appearance, but when i agreed to meet him he told me to contact the above 1-888 number if i wanted matter settled out of court. And they were calling from a local number in my area. Can they really do that?

I personally have stopped asking myself what and what not a collection agency can do. They actually can do everything that can be termed as a 1.

I rather would prefer to get served with the court papers. Please, please, please don't fall into their tricks of settling outside the court.

Do you remember having loan with Global payday loan? Are you aware of the legal status of this lender?

You must check the pdl laws of your state in the following link.

they are lying and trying to scare you into paying.a couple of questions.

1)as SC stated have you had a loan with global?
2)if so how much was borrowed?
3)how much in fees was debited?
4)what state are you in?
5)internet or storefront?

they are talking out of their a$$ as if a judgement was rendered.you would get something from the court.logic states they are just throwing it against the wall hoping it sticks.don't fall for it.

To further expand on this, keep this in mind--when someone is physically trying to serve you with a summons, it is NOT, repeat, NOT a direct employee of the debt collector. It is typically one of two people--a law enforcement officer(sheriff) or a process server that gets hired for the specific purpose of serving a summons, nothing more. So THAT person wil not in any way be interested in trying to convince you to settle out of court--it has nothing to do with them. They have a job to do--serve you, document that you have been served, and thats it. They dont get any info as to what your debt is, how much is owed, if its even legit or not, they get handed a summons and they are given an address. Then they go to that address and try to serve you. If ANYONE who claims to be a process server is trying to get you to "settle out of court" instead of serving you the summons he/she claims to have for you, then they are full of BS.

I also received a call from a Delores Williams stating that she worked for a process service company, and she just received a fax from a Bar group stating that they wanted her to serve me with summons papers for a fraudulent check I wrote. I told her I didn't write a fraudulent check and this must be some kind of mistake. She said if its a mistake, I could called them at 888-477-1866 and clear it up. This has to be some kind of scam, so I called an attorney, gave his assistant the same info, and she said he would call me back by the end of the day. He is a consumers rights attorney. I will keep you posted on what he says.
