PDL Assistance- Signed Up
Date: Tue, 09/01/2009 - 21:04
A year or so ago I moved to a new city and was having some difficulty making ends meet so I decided I would take out a loan from Check Into Cash...I mean, it was one little loan for $300 and the total payment would only be $345...What could it possibly hurt? Well, I live in Louisiana where they are apparently not allowed to refinance a loan. I then had to take out another on my payday to make ends meet.
After using this service, I found it was not enough and needed more. At this point, I found Payday-Loan-Yes. This company allowed me to "roll it over" a max of 4 times and pay interest only. This was okay until they started deducting a part of the principle and taking a big dent out of my check. Please also keep in mind that I am still taking out a loan through CIC twice per month. (I have mercifully paid off this account as of July!)
Well, these two were not enough so I next went to PaydayOne service. This also went okay for awhile, but the payments began to eat me up around April of this year when I finally capped it off at $1,000. So far, this has been the account that seems to keep me in this horrendous cycle.
I then began using the services of AmeriLoan and Midlands Financial for some smaller loans. About 2 months ago, the realization hit me that I am in too deep and really cannot get out of the cycle without any help. About 2 weeks ago, I heard a commercial for PDL Assistance which seemed like the answer I was looking for. I called and spoke with a helpful rep who promptly provided me with a quote that will be just fine with me each month.
My next step is closing my bank account which has proven to be less than easy. However, the only withdrawal that has made it through since using PDL is a small $30 charge. Since my payment to PDL has not gone through yet, they have not started working with the lenders but should by tomorrow. I am just scared that somehow they are going to get charges through my old account and make it even more difficult for me to close. So far, I have spoken with 3 of my lenders and two have acknowledged the fact I am working with PDL and only AmeriLoan has stated that they do not work with them. I called my PDL rep and she stated that the lenders try to throw this out there as one last try to make you pay but they do work with AmeriLoan all the time.
I am sorry about the long post, but really just wanted some feedback. I really feel that I am doing the right thing as I now have about $1800 in debt that I cannot make a dent in. Any feedback, positive or negative, is welcome. I am very nervous about taking this step, but hope that it can help to give me some relief.

Not sure what feedback you want. Seems that you have already joined the program of PDL assistance. Hope they would do a good job for you. :)
However, if you're still unsure whether or not to try their services, I'd suggest that you check them with BBB, and also you can search about them in this forum. Following are two such discussions about Pdl Assistance.

Looks like you just have to see how the program works out for with PDL Assistance. I would inform the PDL companies that you are working with a consolidation company and keep a close eye on your bank account.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Thanks all...I am going to look into those threads about PDL.
