The best way is to look into a Secured credit card at a local bank. Double check, some of them will report every payment and that is the one you want.

Macys... provided you havent shafted them in the past because they do blacklist for life should you default with them. I am assuming you dont currently have a major card. If that is the case, you will have to apply in personal and the customer service desk at any Macy's store and be certain to bring a picture ID as online applications require having a major card.
Another idea is to get a secured card through Orchard.. min opening bal is $200 . Get that set up for a couple of months and you should be able to add an easy store card such as JCPenny, Dillards, or Walmart through GEMB

the crown jewlers gave my credit score a pretty nice jump. I read about it here on this site somewere and tried it out. it did work pretty well but you must purchase something initially to get it started. it can be a very small priced item i think mine was 50.00. you have to pay a little upfront i think i paid 20.00 and charged the other 30.00. and then paid the rest the next billing cycle. my first cc was a fashion bug card they were the first to ever give me aline of credit when no one else would. hope that helps!

And the problem with crown jewelers is they not dont report to any credit bureau. Equifax was long gone, Experian dumped them in June, and Trans Union gave them the boot in August. Pointless to open an account and buy over priced products that build only "in house" credit. If that type of credit is what one is after... then Montgomery Wards is a better option building an in house account.

I thought the one of the posters said that getting Crown Jewelers gave her credit score a real "jump." I thought they DID report to CB's. As for Fashion Bug....some of the stores, on my area, are going out of business.

Thanks for the tips so far...obviously the key for me is to find something that definitely reports...i don't need a store card for any other reason...but i have no revolving credit so i need to find a way to get some. Are there any other places?

Check with your bank or credit union. They will probably give you a credit card with a low credit limit. Otherwise, like others have mentioned, check out target, macys or other stores.
