debts are civil matters not criminal ones.the police are right.you won't be arrested for a debt,but they can sue in civil court.being as you are unemployed.they can get a judgement that will stay on you for 10 yrs.meaning when you do find work.efforts to collect on the judgement will begin.they cannot have you arrested though.

i am not a bad guy, just do not have anything but my daughter. thanks should i even call them to tell them i will not be paying or just ignore there calls they said because i wrote a check the state check laws come into play

pdl's will say that.chances are they assume your lying about being unemployed.if they take you to court.the proof will be in the pudding.just call once more and tell them you are not employed right now.

i have 200 what would you do pay the pdl or pay for rent.

just got a call from always loans, and national check cashiers ohio store fronts. Fraud dept said that i am being served papers sat am if i do not pay . I am scared to death. I know i am driving you guys crazy. Said the law firm is pursuing fraud charges against me for not making payment. Said since i told them i got fired and i did not get fired that is fraud and i will go to jail i am ready to have a breakdown, i called police they said that is not fraud. please let me know what you think

Listen to the police.

Pay the rent. I haven't read other states' bad check laws; but in IL, the check has to be for actual goods or services in order for it to be considered criminal. Our state specifically does not consider bad checks written to creditors to be theft and/or fraud, and will not prosecute over it.
