My settlement company said that the best they can probably do, is 100% over three years. Now, these are my only two accounts. Should I stick with the company and do the 100% for three years, while paying them $75 month to handle this. Or, drop Citi off my program, and end it when BOA is done. I am only about 10 months into the program. I really don't want to spend nearly $3K for them to just pass the buck... Thoughts anyone? |
my wife and I are in a debt relief program call GHS or (Link removed by Shazzers, solicitations are against the TOS, if you would like to provide this information then register and join, then you can send this information to whoever you like via private message )we just cancelled them out today sure we lost $25.000 we cqnt even get a lawyer to get that back. but we arre exspeting to get back 3 or $400.
we paid them through our checking account through the Rocky mountain trust bank every month $242.00 and they took out $116.00 in fees and a bank fee of $9.00 and nothing was done not one creditor was paid off , they told us don't pay them don't answer there calls and let them go into collection and then they can reduce our debts ,well this annoyed me and just wasn't my way of doing things I got a summons from a lawyer that I had to come with an agreement with to stop from going to court, there arbitrator done nothing for us and I suggest give me another one and they didn't. I figure the best way is to try to negotiate and pay them off my self, but the sad thing about it is some of the credit card companies will cut the balance in half to pay it in full,we don't have that kind of money , what should we do ? go to A DEBT CONSOLIDATION COMPANY ,OR PAY WHAT WE CAN OURSELVES ,OR GET ONE BIG LOAN from some where and just have one monthly payment that way the creditors will lower the balances,I don't know?
Contact all your creditors and explain your situation to them! I
Contact all your creditors and explain your situation to them! If you get a person that will not help you, keep calling back until you get the right person! A debt consolidation company will do the same thing! There will be some that will not cooperate! Be prepared to know your rights if a third party debt collector calls! Read this it will help! www.tinyurl.com/debtcall
If you start paying off the smaller debt and then pay what you were paying to the next larger debt with what you were paying to the smaller one plus what you were paying to that one, you will reduce your debt fairly quickly. I know this sounds confusing. If you are paying a minimum payment of 35.00 on a 300.00 debt. Get rid of that first and add that 35.00 to the 50.00 you are paying on debt two. That 85.00 will pay that off and then add that 85.00 to the next one! The exception is if there is a large interest rate on one you should work on that one. Try over and over again to get that rate down! I know it is difficult but it works!
Thanks for your help, everyone! I have called my debt settlement
Thanks for your help, everyone! I have called my debt settlement co. and dropped Citi off the account. If i am settling at 100% and/or eventually being garnished, then crap, I can do that much! Thanks once again! Guest, was that $25G that you lost? If so, wow... I am so sorry to hear that.
citi just seems to be one of those companies that will not budge
citi just seems to be one of those companies that will not budge or help at all i will never own another again. It doesnt make sense to me or anyone else in the credit card business to wait years for every dollar but they sure proved it to me they would. they are pretty nasty too so prepare yourself.
Thanks for the heads up. We are fortunately in a better position
Thanks for the heads up. We are fortunately in a better position now, then when we had began this mess... I have already figured it up, and if they do get a judgment from me, than oh well.. l am not the bread winner. I don't want it against my credit, but I will not lose sleep over it. They will actually get less from me per month that way, then letting me settle at 100% over time. They will get roughly $500/month, whereas, we could do $1000/month. I am planning on having to go to court over this. I am going to document whenever I speak with them.. I don't know if that will help, but I guess why not? I know that I owe the debt... but I also know that I had called them up multiple time requesting for my credit limit to be lowered, but they wouldn't budge. Now I know. I also know that in a worst case scenario, chapter 7 is still viable. I have learned a lot here. I am very grateful, I just hate that this was the path I had to take. I think it was for a reason. I will keep you guys posted, because these posts may help someone else out there out.
