What if a collection agency never validated a debt, the debt is past the SOL, and the debt was not mine and it is showing on my credit report? Is there no way possible to get it deleted?

What are some ways to get incorrect entries off credit reports when the CA tells you that they cannot remove them?

hiya mocha--

in order to get you the best answers possible, please allow me to ask you a couple of questions.

1--when you say that the debt is past the SOL, just how old is the debt?
2--please give us a brief summary of how events have unfolded this far--as in, how did they contact you, how did you contact them back to request validation(by phone, by mail?). It makes a difference.
3--what state do you live in?

Keep this in mind--SOL is different for each state. The time that they can legally report the debt on your credit reports, however, does not change no matter what state you live in. It is possible that they are reporting a debt that by law should have come off your report already. They often do this by what we call re-aging the debt--in other words, they lie on your credit report about how old the debt really is. It happens every day.

Please get back to me and I will get you the answers you need. It is true that you can dispute with the credit bureaus, but that is usually not enough to get the debt taken off your report by itself.

Hi skydivr7673,

The debt is 11 years old. RJM Acquisitions contacted me by letter which I followed up with a debt validation letter. They never responded and that was 2 months ago. I did get the green card back where someone signed for it. I live in the state of Georgia.
