Can my wife's credit score affect mine?
Date: Thu, 09/10/2009 - 08:35
My wife has 2 credit cards in her name only with balances of about $12,000 each which were incurred via cash advances last year when we needed cash to keep up on our mortgage payments until we did a refi.
We cannot pay these full balance and are now going into default on them with the expectation to negotiate a lower payoff. My name and SS# are not on the account. She is ok with having her credit score go down hill so that we can negotiate a lower payoff with these companies to reduce our liability with them and payoff the debt.
I'm just posting this to ask if there is any way that this can affect my personal fico through marraige?
Thanks
Bob
