i made attempts to pay what i could to sallie mae but they still turned it over to NES
i am unable to meet the ridiculous amount the are demanding.
Does anyone know what legal recourse they would have as i no longer live in the US
and am a Canadian citizen?

There is an agreement between the US and Canada.....a judgment filed in the US will be honored in Canada. Or they can easily enough sue you directly in Canada....borders dont really mean anything. I am assuming these are private loans.

yes they are private loans through sallie mae, so they would basically sue you in your local jurisidcation? or would they pursue it in Canadian jurisdication, in Canada if you declare bankruotcy after 7 years of being out of school they include that in your documentation do you know how that would work with respect to a private student loan thorugh sallie mae as i garner from your site that they are never wiped out?
