Last month I settled a 35k debt with creditors interchange for my fia card services (bank of america) account for approximately 8500. The deal was I can make a initial 5000 payment, and then pay the remaining 3500 in 2 payments, one at the end of September and one at the end of October. I made the initial payment in form of a cashier's check. Today I get a phone call from a different representative telling me that I need to give them 2 post dated checks from my personal checking account. The original representative supposedly made a mistake in not receiving these 2 post dated checks from me. So here is my question. Is it safe to give these guys my bank account information with the post dated checks? I've read on these forums never to give this kind of personal information out. He said if I wasn't happy with this they would refund me the original 5k that I put down. What should I do here?

Yes, I did get it in writing, and I have copies of everything. The rep told me that if I didn't give them the personal check information, he was going to return the 5k that I initially gave them. If I tell them I will not give them my personal check information and they reject the offer, what do I do?

If you have the agreement in writing stating the dates you will be making payments then the only thing you need to do is follow that. It sounds to me like they are not very ethical. I would tell them to go ahead and return the $5,000. and wait for a lower settlement offer. Call their bluff.
