Sure you don't want to remove your information from the credit report. All would have their financial status monitored by the credit bureaus. In fact, it's important to have a credit record, since this information would be perused by the lenders while determining your eligibility as a borrower.
You can always order a free copy of your report from all the three bureaus once in every year.
Apart from the credit bureaus there are plenty of other organisations which maintain information on you, even without your knowledge. Your personal information is not really private in this time. :(
