What a nightmare!

My aunt ended up with her sister's house quit claimed to her, but has debts that she had sent in large payments to try and settle. She didn't have anything before and was wondering if the debt collectors can take her sister's house from her now?
The government was not your creditor. And unless you got it in
The government was not your creditor. And unless you got it in writing that you were settling on the account, what you sent in was simply a payment on the account and nothing more.
When the deed was quit claimed to you, the house became yours and the creditors do have a right to go after it. They really dont care who makes the payment...your name is on the deed.
About the only thing you can do would be file bankruptcy and even that would depend on your state exemptions when it comes to the house.
