I sent out a boat-load of DV letters approximately 3 weeks ago. So far, I have only heard back from 2 companies, and one of them went ahead and agreed to a payment plan - yay!!!! New World Collections if anyone has to do deal with them, they will work with you and there was no yelling - which was a nice change.
CMI on the other hand....idiots.......anyway
I signed ALL these letters!!!! I didn't read back far enough in the forum to see that you really shouldn't sign them....can't wait to see what I agreed to next!!!!

OH - BTW - Anyone with an Orchard Bank account that is currently with Portfolio Recovery - Call HSBC and negotiate a settlement. Their rep even told me that HSBC HATES using Portfolio because it gives HSBC a bad name since Portfolio's tactics break all sorts of FDCPA rules!

I settled with HSBC for 50% of what I owed; payment over 6 month
I settled with HSBC for 50% of what I owed; payment over 6 months. They initiated the settlement and although I only owed $3700 - half looks good.
