Citibank Settlement Today! (in collections)

Just settled with Citibank for 50%. Terms are $3100 paid over six months. The debt was with Capital Management but it had only been there for a month. I feel relieved already! on to Chase and BOA...I was a little surprised at how easy it was. I called and she brought it up first..In fact she interrupted my little prepared speech to say "are you interested in a settlement today?" Wow. Finally, convinced my husband that his credit couldn't get any worse (he was worried about the settlement appearing on his report!) I might try to get the settlement(s) removed after we've finished paying..It seems to me though that if your FICO is in the mid 500s it can only get better..

I recently settled with HSBC for $1891 and they agree to report "account paid in full for less than the full balance". Is this good or bad?
