Yeah, that's just what we need--another press conference and photo op. THIS time, they'll REALLY do something about debt relief scams.

But when I or my clients complain about ongoing multimillion-dollar ripoffs and ask for help please, somehow the AGs always have something more important to do, and can't be bothered with actually putting fraudsters out of business and recovering money to give back to its rightful owners. Even if, especially if, I've already done all the work for them and they could shut down the offenders by next week.

So us private lawyers do our very best, only to have local judges ignore the law and dispose of the case to save themselves some work. Okay, try the federal courts, and see them sit on fully briefed motions, including ones marked "URGENT--THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTIVELY STEALING MONEY--PLEASE STOP THEM", for six months to a year. Sure, they make the right decision, AFTER all the money was wired to Latvia.

The only solution is to treat debt relief fraud like what it is--common crime. Arrest them, take ALL their money away, and throw them in a supermax with the rest of the criminals who ruin lives.
