need to know if this is a scam

I have received numerous calls from a guy calling himself Mr. Porter and he gave me the name of 2 payday loan companies that I owe money to and he said that they were collecting the debt for them and If I didn't send them 4 payments of 300 dollars biweekly they would have a warrant out for me. I was then tranferred to a lawyer named Ms. Robinson who was very rude to me and would not work with me at all. I told her I didn't have 300 to send and then she informed me that they would begin processing my file in the state where I live. I needless to say have been a nervous wreck ever since. They gave me a case number and everything. I never have received anything in the mail. They also gave me moneygram express payment info to send them money. How do I find out if this is legit or not. They gave me a phone number of 713-777-2500

if that was the case the prisons would be full! i would guess its either a scam or a ruthless collector scince you stated that you do have accounts with some of them. i would document the times dates and people you spoke with and exactly what they say. they are not allowed to threaten you with warrents and such its illigal. make it clear that you know it is and if the continue you will be suing them.
