If they are not licensed as a collection agency in New Jersey, how can they handle the collections for Eastside Lenders? I've looked at NJ's website and it states collection agencies must be bonded....

Can I tell them to "go to hell"??

I had a laon with Eastside Lenders (ESL) that went to Smith Haynes and Waston (SHW) It was my understanding that SHW was a law firm only to find out they are a collection agency. ESL and SHW are both playing games with my final payment. My bank sent a check to ESL so my account willbe PIF. The checks have been with ESL for 35 days and still not cashed. Each company says the other owns the loan. I have nothing to worry about, the bank says I made a good attempt to pay my debt and ESL is wrong.

As far as I know, they are not licensed nor bonded as collection agency. I will report them next week, as I'm leaving early today because I'm sick. I would send the payment to Eastside, but I don't want them to sit on it, nor do I want to give them my account information. I'll just wait them out. I don't have time for this cat-and-mouse game.

Haven't received answer to my request for validation as of today. So I guess I'm okay. They did send letter stating I owed on one loan and over $1000 on another. Wrong..... we agreed on $350 and the other loan was paid off. I sent them copies of everything and asked for "clarification". As far as I'm concerned, the ball is in their court.

I contacted ESL and asked when are going to cash the bank checks I sent them, they stated the account is with Smith Hyanes. Smith Haynes won't cash my payment because it is in the name of ESL. So, I am letting this continue as they are and in another 60 days if the checks are not cashed my bank will cancel them and refund my money. I have done everything possible to pay this debt and I got nowhere. In speaking with the BBB, I was advised not to waste anymore of my time because I did everything I could to remedy this situtation. So, goodbye ESL and SHW, have a good life.

I don't know why ESL is sitting on the checks. They have had they checks the beginning of October. If they don't want to cash them, thats fine. I will eventually get my money back. From what I have been told, I have done everything right. I gave ESL the money I owed them, if they don't want it, thats their problem.

Hopefully, they will keep sitting on your payment and your bank can cancel. You have all your backup I presume should they contact you again. You tried...... I'm done with Smith/Watson. They haven't responded; I made an offer. Now I'm involved with settling my credit card accounts (and very well) so they can buzz off. I have my paper trail showing I tried to settle with them. I've been home sick since Friday, and I"m not in the mood for these clowns.

On a good note settled with Bank of America yesterday :D

You negotiated with them in good faith. I wouldn't worry. What's the worse an illegal pdl company can do to you? If anything.......
