Bank of America just called
Date: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 11:04
I have a 13k cc debt with BoA which is 60 days late. The lady was very nice but informed me that since I defaulted on DMP (outside agency complete scam) they could not offer me any internal repayment plan due to a new law.
My only options are
- Pay
- Refer me to another DMP
- Account goes to collections
- Account goes to the legal dept
- BoA may offer a settlement down the line

You need to talk to someone else. I was in a DMP and cancelled it this past September. BofA called me today and offered me $4700 settlement on $14700 over 4 payments. I hadnt' even contacted them yet. Here's the phone number they left for me to call: 800-214-3544

Thank you, I had to agree to allow BoA to deduct $153 at the end of the month, but I could call on the 25th to cancel the payment. The lady, said it was to give me some more time before it went to legal department. I don't understand my last payment was on 9/14 and already pushing to legal. They keep saying it was due to my failure in the DMP.
Thank you, I will call that phone number, but I don't have the money yet, will have it next month, should I just wait till then?

Bank of america called me, and I am only 5 days late.. Its a business account, and I got contacted by the Business Contact Center.. at 888-553-6494. The woman that called refused to leave me her full name, but after explaining to her that we have to validate everyone that calls, she left me her managers first and last name, and all the information that way.
My question is, how in the world do you do a settlement with someone over the phone who does not even give you their last name? The whole conversation is void and hearsay, i would think.
VIXM5: I would call them and see what they can offer. I didn't
VIXM5: I would call them and see what they can offer. I didn't have the money either so they worked out a 90 day payment. Paying $400 on 11/30. I think the credit card companies are contacting people and trying to get as much money as they can before charge off. The media may say the recession is over, but those of us in financial stress know that's a lie.
I defaulted on my DMP after being in the program over 2 years. I didn't pay anything on my credit cards since end of Sept., early Oct. and they contacted me. Might be because balance was so high, or that I've been customer since 1995 when they were MBNA. Don't know what their criteria is..... I figure I paid the salary of one of their top executives over the past 14 years :(
