i was served papers for civil court, it says it is an arbitration hearing set 6 months away. i owe the debt to bank of america in the amount of 22000, i am in debt settlement program for 9 months now and do not have enough to settle, the arbitration date is in may of 2010 and i will attend it, my question is do i have to do anything now or just wait to attend the hearing in may of 2010?

ok, here is the problem, i was served today for the prior post, 22000 to bank of america, but i was served september 29th for an hsbc card of 16000 and that arbitration hearing is scheduled for may 1st of 2010, but i did nothing when i got served, i just figured i would go to the hearing on may 1st and plead my case. it has been more than 30 days since i was first served, what will happen beacause i did not answer the first ?, and can i just show up on may 1st or will there be a judgment already for not answering?

You should probably get your defense together for HSBC. What you do NOT want is a default judgment. Start gathering your stuff for May now. You have nearly six months so plenty of time to gathering info. Hopefully someone who has been thru this can give you some ideas of what you can do to avoid a default judgment since you did not respond to the summons.

You need to respond to the summons for BofA as soon as you can. Is BofA suing you or the collection agency? Contact your county clerks office to get help with responding to the summons. Don't wait too long. You have 20 days to respond.
