Do you own any other property besides a homestead property? They can't garnish wages in Texas, yeah they can go after you bank account if they know where to go, I might would consider getting off the back account, if you think they know where you bank at, you can go to a different bank and open up an account. I live in Texas also, I've already decided if I do get sued on one of my bad accounts, the first thing I will do it close my checking account, that's the only thing I have, I have nothing else for them to get. That is just my opinion, may not be the right thing.

Is it really so easy to elude the lenders just by closing the account? With all the modern tracking devices it has become even easier to track down an individual. Can't they easily dig out all the information about you and put a lien against your property?

In Texas, they can not put a lien against your home stead property. Now, if you own other property that is not homestead property, then yes a judgement would attach to it. In the line of work that I am in I see it all the time, seen one the other day, seller had a 3000.00 plus Abstract of Judgement against him, since the home was his homestead, that judgement did not attached, therefor did not have to be paid of sale proceeds, alot of paper work involved, had it not be homestead property then the judgement would have been paid out of the proceeds. As far as bank accounts, I'm sure they can track down your bank accounts, but I wouldn't make it easy for them, I would close any current bank account I had, that just what I would do, I'm not going to just let them freeze my account and take money that I need to pay my living expenses, and put me further in the whole. I've been doing everything I possible can to get my bad debts taken care of, its just going to take time, and of course these CA, want everything right now. I would either find a local owned bank, not a chain like Capital one, wells fargo, etc. less likely to find it or get a prepaid credit card. I've been checking those out, discover had one now, it looks like it might be one of the better ones, its really more like a debt card, they don't report. This is just my opinion and that is it, I'm like everyone else just trying to survive, I'm just not going to let the CA, walk all over me and rule my life.
