Debt Collector Call

If a debt collector calls and leaves a message on my machine and I am not aware of any debt am I required to return the call?

If you are not aware of the debt you need to send a debt validation letter to them asking for details and for that you need their physical address. Next time when they call, attend it and tell them that you're expecting a dunning letter from them so that you can send the DV next. And , yeah, also insist on written communication henceforth.
