I had a payday loan about 14 months ago, it was the second time I had borrowed from this company. I was short with cash to pay them back. I believe my original loan was for $500 and I owe $300. I did pay the full first loan back with 300% plus. I closed my bank accout after I found out it was illegal for them to charge somuch interest. I paid enough the first time to cover the rest of the second loan. Now I am getting phone calls from a Investigator Turner saying I will be arrested for fraud and theft.

Hi, since you were threatened by the collector about possible jail term I'm sure you would find the following link an encouraging reading.

If the lender is illegal you may also peruse the thread dedicated to 'dealing with illegal lenders'.

I also did a phone number search through (yahoo phone number search) it came up with remarks from other people who have dealt with this guy and they stated he was for real and that they have been taken to court. I don't know what to believe.

If the loan is legal then you can be sued for that but when the lender is illegal the collector has no legal leg to stand on. IMO you must wait for the expert's to comment on your situation as well before believing anything. Meanwhile. have you read the link I have given?

OK, help me out here. What state do you live in, and who is the company you borrowed from? Are they Internet-based, or an actual storefront operation.

Investigator, my ass! That idiot ain't nothing but a plain, ordinary collector. Assuming a title like 'Investigator', 'Officer', or 'Agent' is a tactic often used by illegal collectors to scare money out of you. Don't fall for it. If he was any sort of official or law enforcement, he would have clearly identified himself and his agency at the outset.

You cannot be arrested or charged with any sort of crime for owing a consumer debt. And he's breaking the law by threatening you.

Get us the information I've requested, ASAP. We'll check on this company for you. I've got five bucks that says they're operating illegally.

the phone number I have is 716-332-1862. I think it is from D C capital Recovery, I'm not 100% sure. I think the loan was from online payday now or something like that. I live in NJ. My concern is when I read the statements left on Yahoo phone search after looking up this number. Several people said that they were taken to court from this man. They have called me several times at work and I really can't talk to him when I'm there. So not really sure which payday loan company this was originally from. It was an online loan.

since pdl's are prohibited in NJ there is no way he can sue.nor can he even think about using the criminal process.i saw the YAHOO answers too.those people we call shills on here.this guy should be in jail for his calls and tactics.just know that he can't,and won't do a thing.do not speak to him again until you get something in writing.don't worry about him at all.

Sorry I left you swingin'... My PC hiccupped, and I said the heck with it, and went for more food. Enjoy your dinner, friend.

Paul has the right of it (thanks, bud!). DC Capital is way outta control. You aren't the first one they've pulled this crap on. When you've got some time, type their name into the Google search box at the top of any page on our site. You can get quite an education on them that way.
