I spoke to a collection agency called pencor for my account today with Discover Sam's club. They picked up on the first ring, here is the number 866 481 2385. Well I spoke to them and at first they would not tell me who they were before I gave them my account number, at first I was skeptical but they mailed me a letter and the people from Discover directed me to that number. At first he offered to cut the finance charge in half and stop all of the late fees, my card will be charged off next month. I told him no go, and then he offered a 30% settlement but I need to come up with the cash by next week. He said that I could send in the minimum payment to keep the account current and then next year do the settlement. I asked him to fax me the settlement agreement but I still have not got it.

Should I call them back or wait it out. Also is this payment for keeping the account current legitimate or are they trying to get me to start paying my bills. I would pay them but as like all of you have run into some economic problems.

Thank you in advance, this forum has been very helpful to me.

anything connected with DISCOVER will not settle easily.see how much exactly will get the account current.it may take more than the minimum payment.that being said wait for the agreement in writing before proceeding.

Ok, so if i send the payment of $258 he said that I could keep my card from being charged off and do the settlement next year in January or February for three payments. I just hope that it is legit and he did not send me my settlement agreement fax, so even if i had the money I would not pay because of that. Would I be worse of not paying the 258 and getting it charged off?

make sure that is the amount that will prevent a charge off.do not pay a thing until you get that in writing.discover is a pain to deal with, and might be more so if it charges off.try to speak to someone else about this.it does seem suspicious that he won't send the agreement even by fax.
