I received a call this morning from a foreign accented man, Jason Scott from Affidavit Collection Services. The call was received through the switchboard and directed to my extention. The message he left (it was an unknown number) stated that a financial company had brought some serious charges against me and that I needed to call him back immediately. After "googling" I'm scared to call back, but I don't want to force the switchboard operator or any of my co-workers to have to deal with my problem. I am current in default to two payday lenders and was hoping to work out something. I believe that these two lenders may be illegal in my state. I'm thinking about talking to an attorney friend, but in the meantime was wondering what I should do and what others have done. Thanks.

Gee these guys are amazing. I got yet another phone call from them a few hours ago, ACS 1532 Hoffman Lane. Campbell City, Ca 95008 phone number 909-539-4073. A rude man by the name of Justin Floyd called and proceded to tell me that I had charges being filed against my social security number one of which is Theft by deception. WTF are they talking about, I NEVER received a payday loan from CashAdvance. I called CashAdvance, they have no record of giving me a loan, they do have record of me submitting an application, which was denied. They have no idea how they could of gotten my information. I wonder if it would be in everyones best interest to start questioning CashAdvance and their processes of disposing of denied applications? Either way, ACS has now officially threatened me with jail. They threatened me with "bad things happening". They have used several diffrent company names. I demanded a written form of paperwork stating what i am getting "charged" with. They claimed i would get it when the investigation officers hand delivered it to my residence on monday or tuesday. I refuse to be bullied by these people, and have contacted my loccal police department. The scarey part is, they have every bit of information on me that could steal my identity.

I get the same call.. The guy has a thick accent, but claims his name is James Johnson.
The first day I got 4 phone calls. They know where I work, they have threatened me, and told me they would go visit my family.
The following morning, I get another call from them.. This time it is Officer Jim Reynolds.. Again thick indian accent.....
I informed him, I was recording the telephone call. He got Irate, and starting yelling at me.. I again informed him that the call was being recorded. He said fu*k you, and hung up...
These people are SCUMBAGS..... Don't let them intimidate you.

I have also been receiving calls from ACS - Affidavit Collection Services - from the phone number 850-388-8961, which is based out of Florida. Like other people have stated here, this company claims that there are charges pending against me and it's in my best interest to work with them. The scary part is they have so much of my personal information which clearly has been phished. I informed the company that I knew they were fraudulent and wouldn't respond to them any further. I filed a complaint with the FTC and will also file with the FBI if necessary.

they called my house used number 646-918-8890. They said myself and a person I had worked with briefly 6 years ago (and HAVEN"T Even SEEN OR TALKED TO since) were in big trouble if I didn"t call. Called back. They were relentless in me telling to contact this other person, even tho I can't. Eventually made them tell me who they were, asked how got my name, finally made them realize I had no idea who or where this other person was and threatened them if they called again with legal actions. After repeatedly telling them I did not know this other person's whereabouts, they actually apologized and promised to remove my name and no more calls will come.

I am receiving calls at work from 1-813-283-4644. A Michael Lamertson whom sounds like he is talking through his nose leaves his number and tells me to call him. I searched this number and ended up on this site. They have not threatened me yet, just find it odd that I have never received anything in the mail at my home nor calls on my personal numbers. According to everything on here it is about a payday loan. I have NEVER HAD ANY SUCH THING.

I have gotten 13 calls in a matter of 20 minutes. When I tell them to stop calling me they get angry and say That won't be possible. They all have Indian accents and have left me with several different names, Dave Stone, Joe Adams, and several others. They threaten to arrest me and other things.

I have filed a complaint

Mike Lambertson just called for me as well and left a message. I did try to call back and got a voicemail, didn't leave my info though. From what I am reading here it has to do with payday loans which I have never applied for. They better not come with any threats to me or I'll be putting my foot through the phone!!

Be very careful what you say. You may inadvertently and technically acknowledge the debt as yours which would be a big mistake.

Don't talk to them at all other than to tell them to send whatever they have in writing. Then respond with a debt validation letter.

You might mention to them you consider their repeated and nonproductive phone calls to be harassment and they should stop calling you. In your debt validation letter you will else tell them to stop calling you.

You're wasting your time talking to them and could say something to make your job denying the debt more difficult.

I have received 2 of these calls from 2 different "companies". I filed a police report after the first one so as soon as told the guy from ACS that he hung up on me. I actually never had a payday loan, I was online looking for a mortgage and they got my information apparently. So I got a print out of my account to prove there was no such loan and put a security freeze on my credit bureau report through Transunion.

Well, first off, to collect a debt one must first notify you in writing and allow you 30 days to either dispute the debt, if you dispute it, or to pay or make arrangements to pay. So, the fact that they are calling, is useless. They've been calling me now and then for a few months, and I'll just let it go to court...they won't be able to prove anything nor did they follow proper law by not sending a letter first. Also, the letter must include the original creditor's name, address, and phone number (I think phone number) and the amount of the debt. I suggest reading the Fair 1...it obviously has the answers as it's the Act that covers debt collectors...

Thank you all for your posts. This Company did the same song and dance with me. They actually started with saying they were with the Justice department. Imagine that. The justice department being outsourced. Here is waht I think is happening. do they have your information? yes. Will they use it without your Authorization? I believe not. I could be seriously wrong here, but they've had my info for over 4 weeks and nothing has been touched. I called the FTC ( which i recommend everyone do) IRS Social security and the C.c. agencies. call this number 888-397-3742 Experian. Very fast convienant and right to the point. will put a fraud alert on your social immediatly. The reason why I believe they won't touch anything without your consent is ultamtely, there has to be a papertrail when a transaction is made and thats HOW THEY GET CAUGHT!!!! Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've never been a victim before this so I am ignorant to much.
Best of luck everyone.
I appreciated the large amount of responces when I searched them.

These people are scammers, The name Affidavit Collection Services doesn't even make sense, Tell them to send you something in writing and they will gt upset, start asking thm questions when they call you and you'll scare them away, They called m not knowing that I was a Law enforcement officer and TRUST ME IT IS A SCAM!! NO Law enforcment Agency is going to call you about any cash advance TRUST ME, IF someone was suing you, you would receive notification by a Sheriff Deputy delivering documents to your home, NO ONE WOULD CALL AND THREATEN YOU FIRST OR TRY TO GT MONEY FROM YOU!!

I just received a call from this company. I asked several questions they couldn't give me their address or any information about the company that was supposedly sueing us. We don't have a bank account and have no payday loans out, because most payday loans require a bank account. After googling them I read what was said about them and I told him Yall are a scam. He stated they were a scam called me a name and hung up on me.
