I have heard about pre-paid credit cards, but not sure if they really exist. What are the banks that offer pre-paid credit cards? And, what are the benefits of a pre-paid one? Would it make my credit report look good?

One good thing with pre-paid credit card is that you wouldn't run into further debt since you can't spend more on this card than you have in the account. Pre-paid cards are useful for people with poor score who can't otherwise qualify for a conventional credit card and also for people looking to build a credit report, like- young adults.

However, there would be fees associated with setting up the account with the bank and you may also have to pay certain fees with every deposit that you'll make into the account. Check out these facts before you apply for one.

I feel like I should point out there is a difference between a prepaid card and a secured credit card. With a prepaid card you are generally not building credit. Its nothing more than a checkless checking account really. With a secured credit card you put money in a special account and your balance is your credit limit, then you buy stuff and pay bills with your prepaid credit card and pay a monthly bill and interest, but the bank will report your payments to credit agencies.
