I live in Los Angeles and in 2006 I took out a loan with AmeriLoan for about $350; it???s been so long I can???t remember the extract amount; however, I thinks about after the third loan, I had to close my account due to never ending problems with Bank of America. Nevertheless, I never repaid the loan and actually had forgotten all about it until I received a call yesterday from a collection agency asking that I repay $455.00.

I don???t have the money to repay this now and since then I???ve been really working on cleaning up my credit, I???m very afraid the collections agency will place this non payment on my credit report.

Plus, I have been unable to locate any information on this company since I can???t my locate my original paperwork nor have I been able to locate anything showing this company can due business in California and when I searched the BBB, they have a F rating are said to be licensed in Oklahoma but the BBB has determined that this company is not licensed in the state of Oklahoma to provide loans to consumers and does not appear to be licensed in any of the states from which consumers have filed complaints with BBB.

Any advise on how I should deal with this company.

Ameriloan won't end up on your credit report, but the collection agency they hire to collect on the debt may attempt to tarnish your credit report. If this happens, you can dispute the debt as being illegal (and furnish documentation to back up your dispute). If the CRA can't get validation of the debt, by law they have to remove it from your report.
