I recently got a call from a berstein, shapiro and associates about a pdl I had a few years ago from an ACE storefront. ANyway, I have been getting these and finally answered to see what it was about. I talked to someone and like most of the people I read about, I was willing to pay my debt. They said it was 350, I believe it to be close to that. They offer to settle for this before any other fees including court costs would take effect. I was leery of getting out my info over the phone and I gave my email to them to forward a letter about the plan they would agree to. My question is: can they really garnish anything from me or make me pay more than the 350? I would rather do this by mail and with papers to verify that this is on the up and up before going through with this. I was going to make arrangements to start this process tomorrow, but the more I think about it and keep reading from everyone, I wonder should I. I could use some legal advice on this, thank you.

I can't provide you with a legal advice since I am not a lawyer. But, storefronts are normally legal and they can actually take actions against you to collect debt, which means you can also be sued by them. However, You can read about them in the following link.

However, you must make sure that the collection agency is operating legally in your state and has the right to collect on the debt. Hence, you should send them a DV letter before making any payment arrangement.

DO NOT PAY them!!!! They are not even licensed in Wisconsin probably not even a real business as the website was never finished. They are not attorneys in your state either.

I know nothing of payday loans but others here do. I know that every time a collection agency collects on them though that they are scum.....that is all I see on here. Most likely they do not have your address and sending them a DV will give them that. Not that they are from Atlanta GA and could do anything to you but they could harass you by mail....probably a good thing, then you can sue them.

Anyway, if you choose to send a DV letter, send it certified mail return receipt requested. I doubt they will sign for it but it's worth a shot. This is all I can find on them so far....

If you need any more help, feel free to ask.
