I am getting threatening phone calls at work from Professional Debt Management. They identify themselves as "PDM" and insist on speaking to my supervisor and getting my work address. They harass me at home as well and tell me that I am being taken to court, etc. They said they are calling on behalf of a Pay Day Loan company but did not say which one. I thought at first they were Phoenix Debt Management but my caller ID shows PRO Debt Management.

Are these the same people as Phoenix? Anyone have any experience with them? I have sent all the letters both by email and certified mail, including the Cease & Desist and the Wage Revocation letter. I no longer have the same bank account I had when I took out my 2 pay day loans. I also paid back more than double what I owed in principal in fees.

I live in NY so I know they are illegal. My only concern is that these people will call my work and get through to my supervisor. I though it was illegal for them to talk to anyone about a debt except the debtor?

Any help much appreciated!

If you are concerned about the word getting out to your employer you may need to have a conversation with them and explain your situation. That doesn't mean you need to go into detail but if it were me I would definitely tell them something. You can say anything you need to say to save face, ei., tell your employer you are dealing with identity theft, or whatever you can think of. As far as the phone calls, I wouldn't speak to them at all if I were you, if they call (and they will) hang up immediately, they will tire sooner of talking to thin air them someone to argue with. You might even want to consider telling them you are no longer employed there, if you are lucky enough to receive the phone call before anyone else is.
