So now have to get this in the mail tomorrow.
I did get a free credit report in oct/nov due to a mistake they think they may have made and wrote and told me about it and said they would send me a credit report if I requested it. shirley

Oh, I didn't realize that you had to 'buy' a credit report in order to dispute? Equifax sent me a free one and I was pretty sure that they gave me a set amount of time to dispute anything on it, which I responded within that time frame. They wrote and said that there may have been a mistake on the reporting of my mortgage so me and hubby both got free ones. (oct/Nov of 05)
I'm due for a free one this year from all the bureaus. I wonder if Equifax thinks that I've already gotten mine since they gave me a free one due to a 'maybe' mistake? Transunion sent me this same letter, I sent them back the proof of SSN and drivers license. Didn't send a check though. Guess that means that they were saying I had to purchase one from them too. guess I need to get out the check book for Equifax, seems like a waste though, when they just gave me a free one. Shirley

When Equifax was expecting a possible error in your credit report, they might have sent you some letter regarding rectification of this mistake.

If they have sent you any such correspondence, use it to explain that you are entitled to get a free copy this year. Their system should have a record of the free copy sent to you as a result of the mistake on their part.

I think you should talk to them so that you get a clear picture of this matter.

yeah, but did you have to purchase a report with the other two to dispute? As I said Equifax just sent me a free report, I will talk to them about this when I send them my copy of SSN and drivers license.
I guess if all else fails, I rate a free one from all bureaus since its 2006, I will have to get those and then resend disputes all over again. will have to wait and see.

Thanks msmishele30!! shirley

You really need to get a job. You have more write-up's on this site than Roxette and Big Ben

How do you figure there, 'settle up'?
Ben has 2088
Roxette has 4056
and I have 245
Oh wow, 245 over eight months.
And besides, I can come in here and post all day long if I want to, what business is it of yours?
At least I'm registered and don't hide behind 'guest'. Good day settle up, good day.

I did purchase copies of all three of my credit bureau reports a few months ago. I like to keep these things updated and it does take some time. I'm disputing one collection agency now on my Experian report. It was an old medical bill that was paid in May of last year, stating if I paid in full, it would not hit my credit report. Also, it hit in November of last year. How funky is that? I disputed it with Equifax and I have also written the CA.

You have to contact that company whom you paid your medical bill. It is still shown in your credit report because they have not updated with the bureau. Have all your payment receipts in place so that you can prove the company about the account being paid in full.

Do you have the copies of credit report from the other two bureaus? If this account is not shown in those reports, you will place a stronger dispute with the particular bureau that is reporting this account.
