I would also speak with both creditors to see if they have some sort of a hardship program that you could qualify for, as in light of the current economic conditions, I'm sure you're not the only one in this boat. Good luck and keep us posted!

Before you talk to them you have to look at your monthly expenses and see what you can afford to pay. House, food, utilities, car and then credit cards if there is anything left. If you can take care of your basics and have some money to pay your CC's, yes check and see if they have a program or reduced payment plan. If you can't afford even a small payment, then I would stop paying until you got a job and could afford to make some payments. Your credit will take a hit, but sometimes we have no choice. I think it's a little early for BK, you can do that later on if things don't work out.
