Capital One/Global

Hi everyone,
Ok, just need a little advice- I've settled 4 of my 8 CCs, really proud of myself for pulling the $$ together and being strong enough to get that far. Capital One scares the sh!t out of me...I'm 126 days past due today, got a call from Global Credit that they are now handling my Capital One account. I called Cap1's phone # and after entering my account # they automatically forward me to this Global place so it must be legit. Anyway, the guy said my account is at "prelegal" status, heard it before, but because it's Cap1, I'm really on my toes and scared...I've heard they are sue happy these days. They would only offer me a 75% settlement at 126 days past due. He said at any time Cap1 can pull the account from Global and pursue legal action (I know it's a scare tactic, but again, I'm particularly afraid of what Cap1 will do). My only other option would be the pay the minimum due currently on the account to bring it current- that would really be stretching my budget to the penny and then I'd still have to maintain minimum payments after that....any thoughts or words of encouragement?:confused::confused:

Okay, if Capital One has only assigned Global Credit to collect
Okay, if Capital One has only assigned Global Credit to collect the debt then they can cancel the assignment and pursue the debt of their own.
Capital One can be stubborn when it comes to settlement. You can read some of the stories of other members who had negotiated with Capital One.
Try to settle with Global Credit. Usually collection agencies are easier to deal with. You may also try to buy some time from them to see if they come up with a better offer.
