I recieved a call today from lra saying they are collecting for Vince enterprises. They say that I owe 480, which definitely isn't the case. I owed Vince 125. What are the Steps I can take as far as a debt validation letter. What do I tell them when they call? Any help you can give me as far as what I should tell them would be very helpful. Is there a letter I should send to them?

do search in the top right bar.it should provide an address.LRA is a bottomfeeder that collects on illegal loans.when they call say you will not speak to them until you receive something in writing.then end the call.

Tell them you will be expecting their documentation in the mail which validates this debt, until then they are in violation of the FDCPA if they make ANY attempts to collect on this debt during the validation period (which includes calling you), or, you will not hesitate to file complaints against them for violating the FDCPA.

Again thank you all very much for your help. I just spoke with them and the guys I spoke with was actually friendly about it. I'll send the dv letter today. I may have a few questions in the future as to what my next steps would be. like what do I do if i actaully get something in the mail from them?

Cross that bridge when you come to it, the chances of them actually validating an illegal loan are slim to none.

Ok just heard back from them, they said they will send the info to me. they said that while the process of validating is going on that interest may still be added to the account is that possible? Also should I include a copy of the pdl laws for ny with the letter I send because he's telling me that the money I paid the pdl was going to fees and not to the principle? Which I know from the great advice of you guys is not the case.

No, not possible.. actually because they are illegal no interest at all is to be added. you can fight this after you get the letter, if you want.
and yes, include your state's laws in there. keep reminding them that you are fully aware that they are not legal and refuse to pay them anything but the principal.

thank you again for all your help. I will include the ny pdl laws when I send the letter, it seems that I will be getting something from them. The first guy I spoke with when they called back was really rude and tried to scare me into paying now, but thanks to all your help I held firm. Then a supervisor got on the phone and assured me that they would get the paperwork together "as it's my right" as he put it. So after I do get the letter am I entitled to tell them that i will only pay the principle?

I spoke once to them. She was the most obnoxious, rude, brutal woman you've hever heard. Talked down to me like I was some slimeball. Classic collection tactics. I said good bye, sent the letter, got the receipt that they received it, havent heard from them since.......
