How to Sue LVNV Funding LLC...

I sent 2 debt validation letters to LVNV Funding. Each time, LVNV replied with a paragraph stating that they purchased the account from another collection agency and listed the amount of the debt.
I disputed the LVNV tradeline with the Credit Bureaus, which resulted in the remarks "acct info disputed by consmr" being added to my credit report.
So, I sent off a Method of Verification letter to LVNV. I am awaiting a reply from them.
I assume that they will provide an unsatisfactory method of verification. At that time, I would like to file a claim in Small Claims Court against LVNV.
Since I live in California, am I able to file a claim against LVNV, which does business out of South Carolina?
Has anyone received any response from LVNV after sending an Intent to Sue letter? If so, what was the response from LVNV?
Has anyone initiated a claim in Small Claims Court against LVNV? If so, what was the outcome?
